Google Ads Business Operations Verification

How to Complete Google Ads Business Operations Verification (BOV)

Running ads on Google requires advertisers to prove that they are operating as legitimate businesses. If you’ve been asked to complete Business Operations Verification (BOV), don’t worry — it’s a straightforward process. This self-help article will guide you through everything you need to know to pass verification and keep your ads running smoothly.

🔍 What is BOV?

Business Operations Verification is Google’s way of ensuring that businesses running ads are legitimate and transparent about who they are, what they do, and who pays for the ads.

You’ll receive a notification in your Google Ads account if verification is required. You’ll need to submit business details, legal documents, and a clear explanation of your operations.

✅ Step-by-Step: Submitting Business Operations Verification

1. Sign in to Google Ads

Go to https://ads.google.com and log in to the account where the BOV request appeared.

2. Locate the Verification Banner

Look for a yellow or red banner at the top of your Google Ads dashboard. It will say something like:

"Your account is under review. To continue serving ads, complete business operations verification."

Click "Get Started", or go to: Tools & Settings > Billing > Advertiser Verification

3. Enter Your Business Information

You’ll be asked to provide:

  • Legal business name

  • Business address

  • Website URL

  • Business registration details (e.g., company number, tax ID)

✅ Important:

  • The website must match the one used in your ads for this account.

  • All information must be consistent and match supporting documents.

  • Mention all users who have access to the account, and explain why they have access.

4. Upload Required Documents

Google accepts the following documents:

  • Business license

  • Tax certificate or VAT registration

  • Certificate of incorporation

  • Government-issued proof of legal existence

Make sure your documents:

  • Are valid and not expired

  • Are clear and easy to read

  • Match the business name and address submitted

5. Clarify the Advertiser vs. Payer Relationship

  • If your company pays to advertise its own business, simply submit details for that single entity.

  • If the advertiser and payer are two different companies, disclose this clearly.

In that case:

  • Provide documentation for both entities.

  • You can select "Marketing agency (with negotiated contracts)" and upload a service agreement or invoice showing the relationship.

6. Submit the Form

Once all fields are filled and documents uploaded, click Submit. You’ll receive an email confirming that Google is reviewing your submission.

7. Track the Status

You can check the status at any time under:Tools & Settings > Billing > Advertiser Verification

Verifications usually take 2–5 business days.

💡 Pro Tips for a Smooth Verification

  • Use Incognito Mode if you’re having issues with the banner not updating.

  • Ensure your website shows your legal business name, product/service offering, and contact details.

  • Don’t forget to include account users and explain their roles.

❌ Common Reasons for Rejection

  • Mismatched website and business name

  • Incomplete or outdated documents

  • Website missing business details

  • Lack of clarity on who pays vs. who advertises
